Housing Minister Announces End Of Legoland Houses!
The Housing Minister, Grant Shapps, has announced that in the future, new houses should reflect their locality. He intends that developers will be required to engage with communities in order that schemes bring forward “creative and innovative designs that respond to local character and identity.”
It is proposed that neighbourhood plans, which will be designed and voted on by local communities, will include local design and character information which would be available to developers in order to produce schemes which are more reflective of a locality. The Minister considers that local knowledge, expertise and materials should play a greater role in achieving this vision.
